An emotional moment unfolded during the memorial service of the late Dr Job Obwaka after his widow shared the touching details of their final morning together.

In a video shared on the Kenya Digital News YouTube channel, the grieving widow narrated how what appeared to be an ordinary holiday morning at home later became one of the most unforgettable memories of her life.

Speaking before mourners, family members, and friends gathered to honour the late doctor, she recalled how her husband woke her up early that morning and insisted they begin the day together.

“Daddy, where are you going?” she remembered asking him after he woke her from bed.

According to her, Dr Obwaka gently urged her to wake up and join him for breakfast.

“Now you have to wake up and have breakfast with me,” she quoted him as saying.

She admitted that she initially did not want to get out of bed and instead covered herself with a blanket, hoping to continue resting.

However, she said the late doctor playfully removed the blanket and insisted they share breakfast together.

“He removed the blanket and said we must go and have breakfast,” she emotionally narrated during the memorial service.

Simple Morning That Became a Lasting Memory

The widow explained that the two eventually sat down and had breakfast together, describing it as a normal family routine that did not seem special at the time.

“We went and had breakfast together,” she recalled.

After breakfast, she said her husband handed her Ksh10,000 for a salon appointment while joking about her hair in a lighthearted conversation that reflected their usual interactions as a couple.

“Take this 10,000 and go do your hair, it’s very bad,” she quoted him as saying.

She told mourners that the comment was made casually and warmly, just like many of their ordinary conversations at home.

The Final Words She Still Remembers

The widow further revealed that after receiving the money, she became concerned about what the family would have for lunch if she left for the salon.

“If I go do my hair, what about lunch?” she recalled asking him.

According to her testimony, Dr Obwaka calmly reassured her not to worry and promised they would instead share dinner later in the day.

“Don’t worry about lunch, we will have dinner,” she said, repeating the words that would later become their final conversation.

She described the morning as peaceful, simple, and filled with warmth, unaware that it would be the last time they would speak to each other.

The emotional testimony moved many mourners during the memorial service as friends, colleagues, and relatives gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the late doctor.
