Police have launched investigations following the discovery of the body of Esther Wairimu Keige, a Legal Services Manager at the Kenya Forest Service, in a coffee plantation in Juja.

The 54-year-old advocate had been missing since June 10, 2026, after leaving her office along Kiambu Road.

According to Juja Sub-County Police Commander Isaac Kombo, the body was discovered on Monday at Area 4 near Karimenu in Juja.

Wairimu’s brother later confirmed that the body belonged to the missing lawyer.

Family Identifies the Body

Investigators said the body was intact but had already begun decomposing when it was found.

Two members of Wairimu’s family visited the scene and positively identified the remains before the body was transferred to the mortuary at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital.

A post-mortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death.

Students Reportedly Saw Her Before Discovery

Police revealed that students at a nearby school told investigators they had recently seen Wairimu alive on the school premises, where she was reportedly seeking assistance to find food before her body was discovered.

Detectives have also recorded statements from family members as they work to reconstruct her final movements, state of mind and the events leading to her disappearance.

Body Found by Worker

According to police, the body was found at about 5 p.m. on Monday by a worker who was clearing grass at Fusion Farm in the Kiaora area.

The worker reportedly spotted the body lying in shrubs and immediately alerted his supervisor, who informed officers at Juja Police Station.

Senior police officers visited the scene and confirmed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

Investigators say inquiries are ongoing to determine both the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

KFS Had Issued Missing Person Appeal

Following Wairimu’s disappearance, the Kenya Forest Service had issued a public appeal on June 15 seeking information about her whereabouts.

The agency identified her as the Manager of Legal Services and urged members of the public who may have seen or interacted with her to report the information to the nearest police station or through the hotline numbers provided.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward as detectives continue piecing together the events leading to her death.
