Mwakideu Tells Ciggie Johnson: ‘Don’t Listen to Them, That 12-Year Bond Is Special’
Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu has told Ciggie Johnson to ignore the online noise over his DNA test result, urging the club host to focus instead on the bond he built with the girl he has raised for 12 years.
It began with a video filmed inside a parked car. By Saturday, 3 October 2026, the clip had gone viral and put club host Ciggie Johnson, real name Ciggie Okebiro, at the centre of a national debate.
Why Is Ciggie Johnson Trending?
The video shows him on a phone call with the girl’s mother, discussing DNA results that excluded him as her biological father. He sounds visibly frustrated.
What Advice Did Mwakideu Give?
Ciggie had been part of the girl’s life from birth. Over the 12 years he believed he was her father, he paid school fees and rent and funded her birthday celebrations.
In a video on his social media, Mwakideu spoke directly to him.
“Ciggie Johnson, my brother, don’t listen to them. This is a one-on-one between me and you. I am a father of a 12-year-old daughter. Listen, bro, you have created a 12-year relationship with this girl. Nothing can take that away. That is special. You had been a dad to this girl; she calls you dad, and you called her daughter.”
‘The Mistakes of Adults Cannot Be Pinned on Children’
Mwakideu then turned to the children involved.
“Bro, the mistakes of adults cannot be pinned on children. This is my honest opinion. I know I’m married and I live with my wife and kids, but even if I was to do a DNA test today, I can tell you for free, nothing can change how I feel about my daughters.
“The issues you have are between you and the girl’s mother, but between you and the girl… You have to man up, my brother. Don’t listen to them,” Mwakideu said.
A Wider Conversation
The DNA result has opened a wider conversation in Kenya about fatherhood, trust and responsibility. While the revelation has sparked intense debate online, Mwakideu’s message has resonated with many who argue that parenting is defined by presence and commitment, not just biology.
