TSC Dismisses Fake Notice Claiming Recruitment of 12,632 Teachers

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed as fake a notice circulating on social media claiming that the commission is recruiting 12,632 teachers to replace staff who have exited the service.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the commission cautioned members of the public against relying on the viral poster, emphasizing that it has not announced any recruitment exercise for permanent and pensionable teaching positions.

According to the fake advert, TSC was allegedly seeking to recruit teachers for primary, junior, and senior schools across the country. The notice claimed applications would close on July 20, 2026.

The fraudulent poster further indicated that the commission had advertised 8,400 vacancies for primary schools, 4,200 positions for senior schools, and an additional 32 academic positions.

Applicants were directed to visit the commission’s website to submit their applications, a move that raised concerns among job seekers eager to secure teaching opportunities.

However, TSC has clarified that the advertisement did not originate from the commission and should be ignored by members of the public.

The commission urged teachers and prospective applicants to rely only on official communication channels for information regarding recruitment exercises, transfers, promotions, and other employment opportunities.

TSC also warned Kenyans to remain vigilant against fraudsters who often take advantage of unemployment and the high demand for teaching jobs to scam unsuspecting applicants.

The commission emphasized that any official recruitment announcement would be published through its verified platforms and mainstream media outlets to ensure transparency and equal access to opportunities.

The warning comes at a time when thousands of trained teachers across the country are actively seeking employment opportunities in public schools, making fake recruitment notices particularly attractive to job seekers.

Education stakeholders have previously raised concerns over the rise in online scams targeting unemployed graduates and professionals, with fraudsters using fake government job advertisements to obtain personal information or extort money from victims.

TSC advised the public to verify any recruitment information through its official channels before submitting applications or making any payments to individuals claiming to facilitate employment opportunities.

The commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and fairness in teacher recruitment and encouraged Kenyans to report suspicious advertisements to the relevant authorities.
