A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked nationwide outrage after capturing the brutal assault of a young pregnant woman in Nkareta, Narok North.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Lepeita, was allegedly attacked by her own brothers for defying their demands regarding her marital choice. Sources claim her siblings wanted her to marry a man from a family they had selected, but she chose another partner, triggering the violent backlash.
In the harrowing footage, Lepeita is seen being beaten with sticks by three men as she pleads for mercy. Her mother can be heard frantically begging the assailants to stop, but her appeals go unheeded.
Authorities have confirmed that police are actively pursuing the three suspects involved in the attack. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at Narok County Referral Hospital, where she is said to be in stable condition.
Narok County MP Rebecca Tonkei and County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia have both strongly condemned the incident. In separate statements, they called for swift justice and underscored the urgent need to protect women’s rights in the region.
This shocking incident has reignited public debate on gender-based violence, forced marriages, and the protection of vulnerable women and girls in Kenya.
