Former Chief Justice David Maraga has called for the immediate arrest of Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, his deputy Eliud Lagat, and DCI boss Mohammed Amin over the controversial death of blogger Albert Ojwang.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, June 16, Maraga gave authorities an ultimatum until June 25 to act, warning that he would join Kenyans in private prosecution against the senior officials if they fail to do so.
Allegations of Perjury and Cover-Up
Maraga accused the three top police bosses of lying under oath about the circumstances surrounding Ojwang’s alleged abduction and brutal killing.
“They gave false sworn statements regarding the brutal killing of Ojwang’. Their accounts directly contradict several statements issued by the police service,” Maraga told reporters.
The former CJ insisted that immediate legal action was necessary to ensure justice for Ojwang and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
