The High Court in Kakamega has temporarily lifted the suspension imposed on Harambee Stars and Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Patrick Matasi by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over alleged match-fixing.

In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, Justice S.N. Mbungi issued a conservatory order allowing Matasi to resume participation in all FKF-sanctioned competitions until the case is heard and determined. Matasi was handed a 90-day ban on March 27 after a video surfaced on social media suggesting potential involvement in match-fixing activities with an unidentified “recruiter.”

The court noted that FKF had not responded to Matasi’s application nor attended the hearing, deeming the matter unopposed. FKF has been given 30 days to respond to the petition, with the case set for mention on June 4.

Until then, Matasi is free to return to the pitch as legal proceedings unfold.
