Exciting news in the energy sector! The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has just announced the latest fuel prices, and it’s all good news for consumers. Effective midnight, there will be significant reductions in fuel prices across the board.

In Nairobi, the price of Super Petrol will drop by Ksh7.21 per litre, bringing it down to Ksh199.15. Diesel will see a reduction of Ksh5.09 per litre, now priced at Ksh190.38, while Kerosene will be down by Ksh4.49 per litre, costing Ksh188.74. This is indeed a welcomed relief for many motorists and households alike.

EPRA’s statement highlights that these adjustments align with the current economic landscape and are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) as mandated by the Finance Act 2023 and the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020. Additionally, the revised rates for excise duty, adjusted for inflation, are also factored into these new prices as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

For our friends in Mombasa, the price changes are equally favorable. A litre of Petrol will retail at Ksh195.97, while Kerosene will be priced at Ksh187.21. Residents can fill up their tanks with Kerosene for the next month at just Ksh185.58 per litre.

This announcement brings a sigh of relief for many, especially amid the prevailing economic challenges. Lower fuel prices not only ease the burden on consumers but also have the potential to positively impact various sectors of the economy, such as transportation and manufacturing.

As we navigate through these changes, it’s essential to remain mindful of our consumption patterns and explore ways to optimize fuel usage. Whether it’s carpooling, using public transportation more frequently, or adopting energy-efficient practices, every effort counts in maximizing the benefits of these price adjustments.

Overall, the reduction in fuel prices is a welcome development that brings tangible relief to individuals and businesses alike. Let’s make the most of these adjustments and continue striving for a more sustainable and cost-effective future.
