Anxiety is understandably running high among primary school teachers who eagerly participated in promotional interviews back in December. Many are left wondering why the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is taking so long to release the results. As it turns out, the delay is attributed to the meticulous process involved in considering various factors beyond just interview scores.

According to a source within the Commission, the headquarters has yet to release the list of successful candidates. This delay is due to the need for a thorough examination of all aspects, including candidates’ discipline history and verification of their Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) evaluations and ratings. With over 36,000 files to review, it’s no surprise that processing the results is taking longer than anticipated.

For those eagerly awaiting updates on TSC promotions, there’s hope on the horizon. The source suggests that by April of this year, the interview results may finally be made available to the public. This will enable schools to assign successful candidates to their respective roles effectively.

The need to fill over 36,000 posts, which were advertised in August of last year, prompted the TSC to conduct three rounds of promotional interviews. The first phase, focusing on Grades C1 through C5 in elementary schools, took place at the sub-county level from December 4 to December 15, 2023.

Among the vacancies to be filled are positions ranging from Deputy Headteacher II to Headteacher in Special Needs Primary Schools, as well as various Senior Teacher positions in both regular and Special Needs Education (SNE) primary schools.

The second round of interviews, conducted between January 4 and January 16, 2024, targeted post-primary teachers seeking advancement to the county level. This included positions such as Deputy Principal III, Senior Master III, and Senior Lecturer IV at Teacher Training Colleges, among others.

As for the third round, scheduled for February 4–February 16, 2024, it will focus on post-primary administrators vying for promotions in grades D2 through D5 at the regional level.

In addition to these promotions, there are also vacancies for principals at various levels, including Chief Principal, Senior Principal, and Principal in regular secondary schools. These positions, along with Deputy Principals and Senior Lecturers, are crucial for the effective administration and teaching in secondary education institutions.

While the wait for the results may be causing anxiety among teachers, it’s important to recognize the thoroughness of the process undertaken by the TSC. By considering multiple factors and ensuring a fair evaluation, the Commission aims to promote deserving candidates into positions where they can continue to contribute positively to the education system.

So, to all teachers who attended the promotion interviews, hang in there! The results may be delayed, but rest assured that the TSC is working diligently to finalize them and provide the much-awaited direction to all concerned.
