Kennedy Rapudo Backs DNA Test in Ciggie Johnson Case, Slams Public Exposure

Kenyan businessman Kennedy Rapudo has shared his perspective on the ongoing paternity debate surrounding club host Ciggie Johnson.

Rapudo expressed full support for conducting a DNA test. However, he insisted that the resulting fallout should have been handled privately.

His comments follow public reaction to Johnson’s revelation that he is not the biological father of his 12-year-old daughter. Johnson had provided 12 years of parental care and financial support, covering school fees, rent, and daily expenses.

On 3 October 2026, Johnson published a viral video confronting the child’s mother, sparking widespread discussion across Kenyan social media.

Rapudo: DNA Must Be Done

During a car ride, Rapudo’s wife, socialite Amber Ray, asked him what he would do if he found himself in Johnson’s position. Rapudo answered candidly, emphasising that verifying paternity through scientific testing is essential.

He affirmed that testing is necessary for any man seeking clarity regarding his child.

“Yes, I totally agree. DNA must be done. That is a must. On that one, I 100% support him,” Rapudo said.

Rapudo stated that Johnson had valid reasons to seek medical verification after 12 years of raising the child. He endorsed Johnson’s right to seek certainty.

Criticism of Public Exposure

While backing the test itself, Rapudo strongly criticised the decision to publish the confrontation online. He noted that airing the private dispute publicly causes unnecessary harm to the young child involved.

Rapudo’s position reflects a growing sentiment among Kenyans: that while paternity testing is a legitimate and necessary step, the manner in which such matters are handled can have lasting consequences for the children at the centre of the dispute.

The Wider Debate

The Ciggie Johnson case has sparked a national conversation about fatherhood, trust and responsibility. Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu previously advised Johnson to focus on the 12-year bond he built with the girl, saying “the mistakes of adults cannot be pinned on children.”

As the debate continues, the focus remains on protecting the welfare of the child while addressing the complex legal and emotional issues involved.
