Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva says the club still believes it can win the Premier League after securing the FA Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The tightly contested final was decided by Antoine Semenyo, who produced a moment of brilliance in the 72nd minute to break Chelsea’s resistance and hand City another major trophy this season.

The Ghanaian forward finished expertly after being set up by Erling Haaland, flicking the ball past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with a clever right-footed finish.

The victory completed a domestic cup double for City, who had already lifted the League Cup earlier in the season.

Silva, who is expected to leave City at the end of the campaign after nearly a decade at the club, described the moment as emotional and special.

Speaking after the match, the Portuguese midfielder said he was proud to add another trophy to his collection before his departure.

“We are very happy. It is special for me because it is my last season and I wanted to give the fans another trophy,” Silva said.

The 31-year-old also revealed that City have not given up on the Premier League title race despite trailing Arsenal by two points with only two matches remaining.

City are set to travel to Bournemouth in their next league fixture, while Arsenal host Burnley in a crucial clash that could shape the title race.

Silva also paid tribute to manager Pep Guardiola, crediting him with transforming his understanding of football during their successful years together.

According to Silva, Guardiola has played a huge role in nearly all of his career achievements since joining Manchester City in 2017.

Meanwhile, match-winner Semenyo admitted the celebrations would be limited as the team remains fully focused on the Premier League battle.

The January signing said winning trophies at this level was still a new experience for him, adding that Guardiola had encouraged him to maintain his natural style of play since arriving at the club.

Semenyo praised the manager for allowing him to express himself freely despite City’s structured playing system.

The forward also described his winning goal as a dream moment after years of working toward playing for an elite European club.

City fans will now hope the FA Cup triumph can provide momentum as Guardiola’s side pushes for another dramatic Premier League title finish.
