The Kenyan TikTok community is mourning the death of content creator Mirabel, whose passing has sparked widespread conversations about mental health struggles and emotional well-being among young creators.

Tributes quickly flooded TikTok and other social media platforms after reports of her death emerged, with many followers expressing shock, heartbreak, and sadness over the tragic news.

One mourner wrote:

“May angels receive you.”

The death was later confirmed by fellow TikToker Lady Jacquelyne, who shared an emotional message online revealing that Mirabel’s family had personally informed her because of their close friendship.

“I am really sorry to inform TikTokers that Maribel is no more. May her soul rest in peace. I am requesting TikTokers to support the family. Let us come through for the family,” she said.

According to the family, Mirabel died by suicide after previously attempting to take her own life six times before the tragic incident.

The revelation has reignited conversations online about mental health challenges, emotional distress, and the hidden struggles many young people face despite appearing happy on social media.

Online Grief and Support

Following the announcement, TikTok users shared candlelight tributes, condolence messages, and old videos celebrating Mirabel’s life and content creation journey.

Many followers described her as vibrant, relatable, and engaging, saying they had closely followed her content and were devastated by the heartbreaking outcome.

Other social media users urged Kenyans to take mental health concerns seriously and encouraged individuals facing emotional struggles to seek help from trusted friends, family members, counsellors, and mental health professionals.

Mental health experts have consistently warned that emotional struggles among young people can sometimes remain hidden, especially in the social media era where creators often continue entertaining audiences while privately battling personal difficulties.

Growing Concern Over Mental Health

According to the World Health Organization, suicide remains among the leading causes of death among young people globally.

Mental health advocates in Kenya have also continued calling for increased awareness campaigns, affordable counselling services, and open conversations surrounding emotional wellness and psychological support.

Mirabel’s death has once again highlighted the emotional pressure content creators may silently endure while maintaining an active online presence.

As messages of condolence continue pouring in, friends, followers, and fellow TikTok creators are rallying around the family, with many calling for unity, compassion, and stronger support systems for people struggling emotionally.

If you or someone you know is struggling emotionally, reaching out to trusted people, counsellors, or mental health professionals can help. Support is important, and no one has to face difficult moments alone.
