The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has rescued 48 women and arrested several suspects after dismantling two alleged sexual exploitation operations in Ongata Rongai and Kiserian.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 24, the DCI said detectives carried out coordinated operations targeting suspected criminal networks accused of exploiting young women through commercial sex activities and the production of obscene material.
“In the fight against sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material, detectives have ramped up their operations in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai, uncovering shocking enterprises preying on our young women,” the DCI said.
30 Women Rescued in Ongata Rongai
The first operation was conducted in the Rimpa area of Ongata Rongai after detectives received intelligence from members of the public.
During the raid, officers found 30 women aged between 19 and 27 inside a house allegedly linked to the illegal operation.
Police recovered:
- Seven laptops fitted with cameras
- Electronic devices believed to have been used to produce explicit content
- Other equipment now being treated as evidence
Several suspects were arrested and taken to Ongata Rongai Police Station, where they remain in custody as investigations continue before they are arraigned in court.
18 More Women Rescued in Kiserian
In a separate operation in neighbouring Kiserian, detectives rescued 18 women who investigators say had allegedly been deceived with promises of domestic employment.
According to the DCI, the women were instead subjected to sexual exploitation after arriving at the location.
Officers also recovered mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices believed to have been used in the suspected offences.
Investigators are now pursuing the suspected organiser believed to have orchestrated the Kiserian operation.
Victims Receive Protection and Support
The rescued women have been placed under police protection while authorities coordinate safe accommodation and support services.
According to the DCI, the victims are receiving:
- Safe shelter
- Psychosocial counselling
- Medical assistance
Detectives are also working to establish the full scope of the alleged criminal networks and identify any additional suspects connected to the cases.
Part of Ongoing Crackdown
The latest operations form part of the DCI’s wider crackdown on criminal networks involved in alleged sexual exploitation and the production of obscene material.
The raids come just days after detectives uncovered another suspected online sexual exploitation operation in Embakasi East, Nairobi, where five women were rescued from a residential house.
Authorities have urged members of the public to continue reporting suspected cases of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and other organised crimes as investigations into the latest cases continue.
