Kenyan TikToker and content creator Rachel Otuoma is officially engaged again, opening a new chapter in her life months after publicly mourning the death of her late husband, Ezekiel Otuoma.
The engagement became public after videos circulated online showing a surprise proposal attended by close friends and family members.
In the clips, Rachel appeared emotional and visibly shocked as she entered a decorated venue before spotting her partner waiting with a ring.
The romantic setup featured flowers, candles, and a large heart-shaped decoration as guests cheered during the proposal. Rachel was seen covering her face in disbelief moments before her partner went down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.
Kenyans React Online
Following the engagement announcement, social media users flooded online platforms with congratulatory messages, with many saying Rachel deserved another chance at happiness after years of emotional pain and public scrutiny.
Some supporters praised her loyalty and dedication to Ezekiel Otuoma during his long illness, arguing that she had earned the right to move on peacefully.
Others, however, reignited debates surrounding grief, remarriage, and the pressure widows face from the public when they begin new relationships after losing their spouses.
Despite the mixed reactions, many Kenyans defended Rachel’s decision, insisting that healing and finding love again should not attract judgment.
Life After Ezekiel’s Death
Rachel’s engagement comes after a deeply publicised mourning period following the death of Ezekiel Otuoma in December 2024.
The former footballer died after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a rare condition that affects muscles and the nervous system.
For several years, Rachel Otuoma became widely admired online for standing by Ezekiel throughout his illness. She frequently documented their journey on social media and served as his primary caregiver during the difficult period.
At Ezekiel’s burial in January 2025, Rachel emotionally declared that she would never remove her wedding ring or remarry, saying nobody could replace him in her heart.
However, months later, she began speaking openly about healing, rebuilding her life, and moving forward after loss.
Public Relationships Spark Debate
By April 2025, Rachel had publicly introduced a new partner, sparking mixed reactions online.
Later in August the same year, she unveiled another partner identified as Jabilo and disclosed plans for a traditional wedding ceremony.
In November 2025, the influencer confirmed that she had officially remarried less than a year after Ezekiel’s passing, a revelation that generated intense online debate.
Rachel also addressed criticism surrounding her continued use of the “Otuoma” surname even after remarrying.
Although she had previously suggested she would eventually drop the name, she later clarified that she intended to continue using it alongside her new marital identity, explaining that her husband was comfortable with the decision.
She defended her choice publicly, saying she deserved happiness and the opportunity to rebuild her life after spending years caring for her late husband through illness.
