Huduma Kenya has announced that thousands of personal documents are now ready for collection at various Huduma Centres across the country.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, May 21, Huduma Kenya confirmed that a new batch of birth certificates, national identity cards and smart driving licences has been processed and is awaiting collection by applicants.
According to the agency, a total of 29,138 birth certificates, 178,939 national IDs and 100,131 smart driving licences are currently ready for pickup nationwide.
Kenyans who applied for the documents have been urged to visit their selected Huduma Centres and collect them as soon as possible.
The agency advised applicants to carry the necessary identification documents together with their collection slips to ensure a smooth verification and pickup process.
The latest announcement comes amid ongoing efforts by the government to reduce the growing backlog of uncollected personal documents in the country.
Previously, Huduma Kenya disclosed that hundreds of thousands of official documents had remained unclaimed for extended periods, creating pressure on processing systems and storage facilities.
In April, the agency revealed that more than 462,500 national ID cards had not been collected across the country. Officials noted that a significant number of those IDs were duplicate applications, further complicating document management at registration centres.
The government has continued to encourage Kenyans to regularly follow up on their applications to avoid delays and administrative challenges linked to unclaimed documents.
The issue of delayed document collection has also sparked concerns among citizens over transparency and communication during the application and processing stages.
Personal identification documents remain critical for accessing various government services, including passport applications, banking services, job applications and other official transactions requiring valid identification.
To improve access to services, some Huduma Centres across the country have extended their operating hours from 7am to 7pm.
The extended working schedule applies to major Huduma Centres, including those located in GPO, City Square, Eastleigh, Kisumu, Kakamega, Mombasa, Embu, Kisii, Meru, Migori, Nakuru, Nyeri, Uasin Gishu, Bungoma, Kitale, Kiambu, Kericho and Makadara.
The government says the extended hours are aimed at giving Kenyans greater flexibility to collect important documents and access services outside normal working hours.
