TikTok has removed 820,552 videos in Kenya between October and December 2025 as part of a major enforcement operation targeting harmful and non-compliant content on the platform.

According to TikTok’s Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released in Nairobi on May 19, 2026, the platform proactively detected 99.9 per cent of the flagged videos before users reported them.

The company further revealed that 98.4 per cent of the violating content was taken down within 24 hours of upload, highlighting increased reliance on automated moderation systems.

During the same period, TikTok banned 108,752 Kenyan accounts, including 93,704 accounts linked to users under the age of 13, which violates the platform’s minimum age policy.

TikTok says the enforcement campaign is aimed at strengthening user safety by tackling misinformation, hate speech, violent content, and other harmful material while also improving protections for minors using the app.

The platform has recently faced increasing scrutiny globally over online safety, child protection, and content moderation standards as governments and regulators push social media companies to tighten enforcement measures.

Globally, TikTok removed more than 175 million videos during Q4 2025, most of which were identified using automated detection systems.

However, the company disclosed that over 8 million videos were later restored after additional reviews, highlighting ongoing debates surrounding moderation accuracy and content appeals.

The latest report underscores the growing role of artificial intelligence and automated systems in policing online platforms as social media companies continue balancing free expression with digital safety requirements.
