However, what began as a celebratory gathering quickly turned chaotic after the official programme ended.
According to Orandi’s family, the situation escalated when a local politician allegedly called people back into the grounds, claiming that cash handouts would be distributed.
The reported amount—just KSh200 per person—sparked a rush among attendees. In the scramble, a stampede reportedly broke out, turning the event into a scene of panic and confusion.
Caught in the middle of the crowd, Orandi was unable to escape.
Family Demands Justice
Orandi’s family is now calling for a full investigation into the incident, insisting that negligence and poor crowd control led to his death.
His daughter, Teresa Kirubo, who was present at the scene, described the terrifying moment the situation spiraled out of control. She has since reported the matter to authorities and is demanding accountability.
The family believes the tragic loss could have been avoided if proper measures had been in place to manage the crowd.
