Pop superstar Taylor Swift has announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, marking one of the most talked-about celebrity love stories of 2025.
The 34-year-old singer shared the news on Instagram Tuesday, posting photos of Kelce’s proposal along with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The photos showed the couple embracing, holding hands, and showing off Swift’s dazzling diamond engagement ring.
Within four hours, the post racked up more than 18 million likes, sparking an avalanche of congratulations from fans and celebrities alike. Avril Lavigne, Cara Delevingne, and other A-listers were among the first to send their well wishes.
Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, celebrated the news on X, declaring: “Today is a fairy tale. Congrats to Travis and Taylor – welcome to the Chiefs Kingdom family!”
Even US President Donald Trump weighed in, telling reporters: “I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player, a great guy. And I think she’s a terrific person.”
The Engagement Ring
According to PA News Agency, Swift’s engagement ring is an old mine brilliant cut diamond designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery.
The singer also shared a subtle nod to her fiancé by posting a heart emoji on her Instagram Story, set to her track So High School from the anthology edition of The Tortured Poets Department — a song believed to be inspired by Kelce. Another song from the same album, The Alchemy, is also widely thought to reference the NFL star.
How Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Met
Swift gave fans fresh insight into her relationship during a recent appearance on Kelce’s popular podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason.
“This podcast got me a boyfriend,” Swift joked, recalling how Kelce first used the show as his “personal dating app” to get her attention after attending her Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce had previously revealed he wanted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, a move she compared to a “’90s movie moment” where a suitor holds a boom box outside a window.
Family and friends encouraged her to give him a chance. “My cousins and friends kept saying, ‘He’s amazing, he’s actually such a great guy,’” Swift said. “It was wild, but it worked. He’s the good kind of crazy.”
Since then, the couple have been inseparable. Kelce has been spotted at multiple Eras Tour shows, even joining Swift on stage at Wembley in June 2024, where he helped her prepare for a performance of I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.
Taylor Swift’s Love Life and Songwriting
Swift, who recently concluded her record-breaking Eras Tour, has long been one of the world’s most scrutinized celebrities when it comes to her relationships. Her songwriting often draws from personal experiences, with fans poring over lyrics for clues about her love life.
She has previously dated Matty Healy, Joe Alwyn, Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal, and John Mayer. Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, is widely speculated to reflect her breakup with Healy, though she has never confirmed this.
Swift once playfully addressed the public’s obsession with her relationships in her 2014 hit Shake It Off, singing: “I go on too many dates, but I can’t make ’em stay. At least that’s what people say.”
Now, after years of speculation, Swift appears to have found her happily-ever-after with Kelce.
“It’s the moment I’ve been writing songs about since I was a teenager,” she admitted on the podcast. “It was wild, but it worked.”
