Nelson Amenya, the whistleblower who exposed the controversial Adani-JKIA airport lease deal, has made fresh and explosive claims of a covert plan to incite ethnic conflict ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Election.

In a detailed statement released on Wednesday, July 23, Amenya alleged that a clandestine political network — with backing from powerful individuals within the government — is orchestrating efforts to arm militias and manipulate electoral outcomes through violence and intimidation.

“A secretive political network is allegedly arming militias and plotting ethnic conflict to cling to power in 2027,” Amenya wrote. “Kenya is sitting on a ticking time bomb.”

According to Amenya, this network allegedly intensified its operations in early June 2024, formulating what he described as a “well-connected extrajudicial plan” aimed at shaping voting patterns in specific regions of the country. The whistleblower suggested that the operation’s ultimate goal is to retain the current administration in power beyond its constitutional term.

Ethnic Tensions and Militia Recruitment

Amenya further claimed that political rhetoric from senior government-allied politicians prior to the June 25 and Saba Saba protests laid the groundwork for ethnic polarization. He accused these leaders of stoking hostility against certain communities, a strategy he believes is linked to the broader scheme of voter manipulation.

In a more alarming assertion, Amenya alleged that at least one militia group has already been formed and has undergone a swearing-in ceremony. Although he stopped short of naming all individuals involved, he hinted that several influential political figures are implicated in the plot.

Relocation of Weapons Stockpiles

Amenya also alleged that after intelligence about the plot leaked, the organizers took urgent steps to relocate weapon stockpiles to new, undisclosed locations. He claimed that the arms were initially sourced from neighboring countries, including Uganda and South Sudan, and stockpiled in Kenya’s North Rift region — a hotbed for political violence in past elections.

“The individuals involved allegedly restocked and quietly relocated the arms to new locations, continuing their preparations in secret,” Amenya added.

Track Record of Revelations

The 30-year-old whistleblower has previously drawn national attention and public praise for exposing sensitive government documents related to the planned leasing of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to India’s Adani Airport Holdings Limited.

Amenya disclosed in 2024 that he obtained these documents through trusted contacts within government departments. His revelations forced high-level responses and sparked national debates over sovereignty and transparency in public infrastructure deals.

Public Reaction and Government Silence

As of the time of publication, the Kenyan government had not issued an official response to Amenya’s latest claims. Civil society groups, political observers, and human rights defenders are urging authorities to investigate the allegations with urgency and transparency.

Many fear that if left unaddressed, the claims could stir public anxiety and deepen existing political tensions, especially as the country inches closer to the high-stakes 2027 General Election.

A Call for Vigilance

Amenya ended his statement with a stark warning: “This is no longer about politics — it’s about the future of Kenya. We must act now before it’s too late.”

His revelations come at a time when the country is already grappling with inflation, rising youth discontent, and increasing scrutiny of state institutions. With barely two years to the next general election, the whistleblower’s claims could trigger new calls for electoral reforms, security audits, and enhanced monitoring of political actors.
