It was an emotional and dramatic moment at the Milimani Law Courts on Thursday mid-morning as missing blogger Ndiang’ui Kinyangia was reunited with his tearful mother. Kinyangia, who had been missing since June 21, 2025, appeared in court to the relief of family, friends, and supporters.

As he entered the courtroom, escorted by prominent lawyers Kibe Mungai and Senior Counsel Martha Karua, Ndiang’ui’s mother broke down in tears and rushed to embrace her son, drawing a wave of emotion across the room.

Court-Ordered Appearance After Disappearance

Justice Chacha Mwita had on Tuesday issued a directive that the blogger be produced in court dead or alive, following widespread concern over his mysterious disappearance. The order came after civil society groups and fellow legal advocates raised alarm about Ndiang’ui’s safety.

Confirmation from Lawyer Wahome Thuku

Earlier, lawyer Wahome Thuku revealed in a Facebook post that Ndiang’ui had made contact with his family and was “alive and well.” His appearance in court has now formally confirmed his return and safety, though details surrounding his disappearance remain unclear.

This court appearance marks a significant development in the case that had sparked nationwide concern over enforced disappearances and freedom of expression in Kenya.
