Dem wa Facebook, a rising star on TikTok, has recently reached a significant milestone—one million followers. This achievement is not just a testament to her engaging content but also to her strong and loyal fanbase. In a moment of surprise and gratitude, she shared her excitement upon receiving the news.
“Sikujua ni congratulations ya nini. Nikasema nimefanya nini. Wacha mwingine anitumie screenshot! Weuh one A million followers. God is great,” she exclaimed, overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from her followers.
To celebrate this monumental achievement, Dem wa Facebook decided to give back to the community in a meaningful way. She chose to launch a new initiative aimed at supporting Kibra girls by donating sanitary pads. Speaking to Kenya Online Media, she expressed her deep connection to this cause.
“Msichana heri umnyime nguo lakini umpatie sanitary towels. Juu tunajua ukinyesha na hauna pads, inakuwanga uncomfortable. Huwezi tembea, ndio hio harufu ya damu,” she explained, highlighting the significant discomfort and challenges that girls face when they cannot afford sanitary products.
This initiative is close to her heart, rooted in personal experiences from her own school days. She recounted the humiliation she felt when she couldn’t afford sanitary towels, resorting to cutting pieces of a mattress, which often led to embarrassing leaks.
“I used to cut pieces of a mattress, but it would leak and a boy asked me why my uniform is red. So that shame has also motivated me, and girls are so shy, she can even stand in the bathroom the whole day to let the blood drip, because of lack of sanitary towels,” she shared.
Through this initiative, Dem wa Facebook aims to alleviate the monthly struggles of many girls, ensuring they have the basic necessities to attend school and participate fully in daily activities. Her message is clear: “Sanitary towels are the best gift you can give a girl child.”
Her choice to celebrate this milestone with the girls of Kibra demonstrates her commitment to making a positive impact. “I am happy because I have celebrated with the right people and at the right place,” she said, filled with joy and satisfaction.
Looking ahead, she plans to expand her sanitary drive, hoping to reach even more girls in need. Her journey from personal hardship to becoming a TikTok sensation and a philanthropist is truly inspiring, showing that with success comes the responsibility and the opportunity to uplift others.
