I pulled Aayushi and let her sit on my laps. We started kissing passionately. Just as we were about to hit it we heard a male voice shout. ‘What is this you are doing in my house?’ It was Aaayushi’s father,,,,cant this life be any worse,,,,I shivered but lazima ujikaze sasa mwanaume utafanya nini na umeshikwa mkono nyekundu red handed,,,
“What are you doing with my daughter? “, shouted Aayushi’s father. Feelings of an electric shock ran down my spine. My orifices widened letting sweat pour out like a flooded land.
I closed my eyes and asked for God’s intervention. He is the only one who was to save me. Aayushi didn’t say anything. She stood up in a flash, bunched her dress down, sat up and closed her legs on the chair neighbouring mine. She then turned eyes towards me like, ‘Conrad, you could have reminded me to close the door’.
Tears trickled down her eyes. Silence filled the room for a few seconds. I did not know what to do. I just watched Aayushi cry. I consoled her in my heart. While at it my phone started vibrating. I had placed it on the table before Aayushi sat on my thighs. It was Rita, my sweetheart calling. I did not pick. “I am sorry sir, forgive me……’ ‘…don’t talk to me you stupid black monkey’ Aayushi’s father interrupted my plea. I acted stupid and let him shine. I did not want this thing to go far. Remember Rita was expectant of my child. Her learning of what had happened to her husband could lead to more complications.
“You can’t call him a monkey”‘Aayushi told her father. It’s the first time I heard anyone stop his father. Being born in town is an advantage. In my village talking rude to your elder brother is a certificate to go without supper. Shouting back at your parent could make you a refugee not only in your home but also the village. Here was Aayushi stopping her father for a mistake she initiated. Does Aayushi know I don’t want to complicate the situation?. I saw the father’s face frown. He said nothing except constant and loud clicks. ‘You didn’t have to say that Aayushi, see how your father is angered now’ I told myself kimoyomoyo. Her father took the phone and commanded someone and his team to arrive urgently.
I knew the situation is now out of my control. I reminded God to intervene, in my mind though. Did I tell you that my machine gun was totally jumbled? Yes it was completely disconnected.Moment’s later 3 well-built Securex security men walked in. ‘Take this man to the police. I am behind you’ Aayushis father commanded them without even saluting them. Aayushis protest to have me forgiven hit dead ears. ‘Dad, if my husband is imprisoned I will hang myself’ I overheard Aayushi scream at her father as we stepped out. I was now totally confused. Aayushi had confirmed to her father I was her husband.
She had also threatened to kill herself if anything stupid is done to me. I did not know how Rita, my expectant sweetheart will react if she gets wind of my imprisonment. I was bungled into a double cabin KCR 413K and driven away. I saw Aayushi bout with her father as I was driven away in high speed. Fifteen minutes later we were at Parklands police station. ‘Na umejieka kwa noma mtu yangu, huyo mzee hapana cheza’ one security man (crew) talked to me for the first time……To be continued
