A £60 million paid by Manchester City for Mahrez, an Algerian winger in 2018, sounded a not so bad bussiness’ as the Algerian netted scored 15 goals in 47 appearances as the Blues won the Premier League title.
Mahrez stated that it had been a privilege and an honor to play for Manchester City.
“I came to City to play football and win championships. I succeeded in all of things and much more.
“I have a lifetime’s worth of fantastic memories. I will always consider Manchester City to be a major and joyful aspect of my life.
During his five seasons at City, Mahrez contributed to 10 major victories, but he didn’t play in either the FA Cup or the Champions League and FA Cup finals.
Riyad has been a significant contributor to our incredible triumphs over the last five years, and his work will not be forgotten, according to City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain.
“He is a fantastic football player to watch, and he leaves us with many pleasant memories.
Few wingers in the world of football have his levels of talent and technique, thus he will be missed. However, everyone will wish him luck as he starts a new chapter in his career.
