,,,,,,,,,,The following night I invited Beatrice for supper. She did not decline. At nine I heard a knock and knew its Betrice: the beautiful Kisii girl. I opened the door and let her in. she was carrying a small bag which I did not bother to ask what it was for. As a man hufai kuuliza dem amebeba nini.

Labda ni nguo za kuchange. I wanted to cook but she insisted on doing it. Unlike the slay queens hii Nairobi who want to carry Pizaa take away, Beatrice Biyaki was an expert in cooking. I was admiring her as she spinned ugali on the other edge of my single room.I had started ‘chewing’ her in my mind when my phone vibrated. ‘Dear I miss you. Have a good night. Lots of love’. It was Rita. I replied and went back to my fisi state: chewing Beatrice in my mind as I waited for her to finish cooking. I knew Beatrice will sleep around. I had seen her with a bag, a sign from back in college that nitalala hapa weekend. We ate our meal and Beatrice was so relaxed. I checked my watch it was few minutes to eleven. At such a time no woman can say she is going away even if she stays in the next door. I knew I will spend the night with the most beautiful girl in the estate. I left her and went to shower. I came and found her watching. I went behind the curtain and dressed. She requested to have a shower too. My friend mungu akikuonekania ni mara moja. After the shower, she came with a leso tied above her chest, stretching slightly below the butt. Nakuambia mambo ya mungu usicheze nayo. This was extremely tempting. ‘brother John’ was already clapping with joy. I tried to concentrate on the TV but wapi. After the basics, si unajua wanawake na mafuta, she sat at the far edge of the bed shivering: another indication she wanted me to make her warm. ‘Sasa si tulale?’ I started as I jumped into the sheets. ‘Kwani wee huombi?’ Beatrice interrupted my fisi mode. She rose and went for her bag. I knew she is going for her night dress. She came out with two books: a Bible and a hymn book. She chose song number 24, Deep and Wide, from the hymn book. We sang the song together even taking turns in singing the chorus with me giving a bass and her tenor. She then took the Bible and read from the book of Genesis 3:1-7 the story of Adam Eve and the serpent. She taught me that woman is the main reason for the fall of man. She gave me more examples from the Bible of where men became victims of women. She opened Genesis 16 the story of Samson and Delilah. 2 samuel 11 the story of David Bathsheba and Uriah. How David killed Uriah and slept with his wife. 1 Kings 11 the story of Solomon and idolatry. Genesis 19 how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. In her many examples she told me how and why Rita broke up with her husband. She taught me how a woman can do anything, even giving you eskanunu, just to bring you down.
By the time she finished the sermon, ‘Brother John’ had already hit the factory reset button and slept, my mind had come to terms with the fact nothing gonna happen tonight. she did not give me the negative side of women alone, she told me if you find a good woman you are complete. She gave me of many other real life examples of where women have supported their husbands to achieve. We held hands and prayed. After the prayer we sang two more songs one from the hymn book and another by prophet Nganga nimedungwa sindano. All ths while she was in her leso and me in my sleeping shorts. I gave her one blanket and I used the sheet. She slept facing the other side and me the other. That night was long and cold.it was like sleeping in a cell. I woke up shivering and found she had already left.
I woke up hating Beatrice. Who do these light skins think they are? How can u strangle me with coldness? How do you go to a man’s house and just leave like that? I cursed myself for inviting her. How can you eat my food, shower, sleep and just jump out like a grasshopper. It’s while I was thinking of the best revenge when my phone started lighting.
