Ayra Starr Makes History With NFL Halftime Performance in London
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has made history with a headline halftime performance at an NFL international game in London, marking a major moment for African music on the global stage.
The 24-year-old performed at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, 11 October 2026, as the Philadelphia Eagles faced the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Her set marked a landmark moment. Starr is reported to be the first African artist to headline halftime at an NFL International Game.
The Setlist
Ayra Starr began her set with “Heaven Baby”, then worked through several of her best-known songs, among them “Santa”, “Hot Body”, “Rush” and “Dangerous”.
The performance drew on her growing body of work, including Starrgirl, her third studio album, which came out in August 2026.
She took the stage in a purple corseted top and a black skirt. Fans praised her energy and vocals.
‘This Performance Carries a Message’
Before the show, Starr told BBC Newsbeat that taking part in the event meant more to her than a booking.
She said the opportunity “itself is a message”. Artists, she added, have a duty to represent their culture and the people who listen to their music.
Starr also called the performance a dream come true. She spoke of her love for London and her excitement at presenting music from Starrgirl.
From Debut to the NFL Stage
The show adds to her rising global profile. Since her debut in 2021, she has built an international following through hit records, major award nominations and live performances abroad.
Her honours include Grammy nominations for Best African Music Performance. She has also won a BET Award for Best International Act and been recognised at the MOBO Awards.
A Record Year for NFL Halftime Shows
The London show was one of a record seven halftime performances at the 2026 NFL International Games, spanning seven countries and four continents.
Starr has passed seven billion streams since her debut.
