Stoopid Boy Laid to Rest in Nyandarua Beside Late Brother After Weeks of Dispute
Kenyan Arbantone artiste Stoopid Boy has been laid to rest at his mother’s home in Miharati, Kipipiri, Nyandarua County.
The musician, whose real name was Edgar Waititu, was buried on Wednesday, September 16, nearly three weeks after his death.
His final send-off was attended by family members, friends, fellow creatives and fans who gathered to pay their last respects to the young artiste.
Buried Beside His Brother
One of the most emotional details from the burial was the location of Stoopid Boy’s final resting place.
His grave was placed beside that of his brother Ian Mbugua, who died in May 2026, just months before Stoopid Boy’s death. Images and videos from the burial showed mourners gathered around the graves as Stoopid Boy’s casket was lowered into the ground.
Weeks of Family Disagreement
Stoopid Boy’s burial came after weeks of disagreement between his maternal and paternal families over where he should be buried.
His father, George William Ochieng Awili, had wanted the artiste to be buried at the family’s ancestral home in Alego, Siaya. Ochieng maintained that his son had previously told him he wanted to be buried in Siaya.
“I just want to fulfil my son’s wishes,” Ochieng said in an earlier interview.
The disagreement eventually resulted in a court case that temporarily halted the burial arrangements. The dispute was later resolved, allowing the family to proceed with the funeral in Nyandarua.
Body Remained in Mortuary for Nearly a Month
Stoopid Boy’s mother later explained that the family decided to proceed with the burial after the legal dispute was resolved. She said his body had remained at the mortuary for almost a month.
The family also received assistance from well-wishers during the funeral preparations. A well-wisher identified as Stazo reportedly helped settle the mortuary bill and paid for the vehicle used to transport the body, while media personality Oga Obinna assisted the family in securing a coffin.
A Rising Star Gone Too Soon
Stoopid Boy was known for his contribution to Kenya’s Arbantone scene and gained widespread recognition through his music, including his work on “G Baga Jat.”
He leaves behind two young children.
His burial now brings to an end weeks of uncertainty surrounding his final resting place, as his family and fans mourn the loss of an artiste whose career was still developing.
