Old Mutual Unveils Motor-Rahisi and Airalo eSIM in Kisumu

Kisumu, 17 September 2026 – Old Mutual has unveiled two innovative insurance solutions as the Group deepens its customer engagement and financial wellness drive in Kisumu.

The new solutions include Motor-Rahisi, which allows customers to spread comprehensive motor insurance premium payments over a period of up to three months, and the integration of Airalo eSIM functionality into Old Mutual Travel Insurance, enabling customers to access travel cover and mobile connectivity within the same digital journey.

Through its partnership with Airalo, one of the world’s leading eSIM providers, Old Mutual Travel Insurance customers will have access to affordable mobile data in more than 200 countries and regions, helping them stay connected while travelling without the inconvenience of sourcing and changing physical SIM cards.

Convenience at the Core

Old Mutual General Insurance Kenya Managing Director Japheth Ogalloh said the solutions reflect the insurer’s focus on customer convenience.

“Customers increasingly expect solutions that are convenient and responsive to their everyday needs. Motor-Rahisi gives motorists greater flexibility in managing the cost of comprehensive insurance, while our partnership with Airalo brings protection and connectivity together in one convenient digital journey,” said Ogalloh.

Through the eSIM integration, customers can select an appropriate data plan, activate it digitally and manage their data usage and top-ups while travelling.

El Niño Preparedness Call

Ogalloh also urged households and businesses to review their insurance cover and take precautionary measures to protect their property and other assets amid the possibility of El Niño conditions later in the year.

“Insurance is an important part of financial resilience, but protection also starts with preparedness. We encourage customers to review their cover, understand the risks they are exposed to and take practical steps to safeguard their homes, vehicles and businesses against weather-related risks. Being prepared can significantly reduce the financial impact when unexpected events occur,” said Ogalloh.

The ‘There Will Be Signs’ Campaign

The unveiling took place during the Kisumu Market Storm, part of Old Mutual’s ongoing There Will Be Signs campaign, which encourages customers to recognise the signs in their financial lives and take appropriate action towards greater financial wellness.

“Financial wellness starts with recognising the signs and taking action early. Through the Market Storm, we are encouraging customers to build stronger savings habits, plan for retirement and invest consistently for the long term. Our ambition is to help more Kenyans move beyond immediate financial needs to building sustainable wealth and long-term financial security,” said Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya Managing Director Martin Karenju.

Nationwide Customer Engagement

The Kisumu Market Storm follows the engagement in Eldoret earlier in the week and builds on similar customer engagements previously held in Thika, Nakuru and Mombasa. The activations form part of Old Mutual’s wider effort to engage customers directly, understand their evolving needs and connect them to practical financial solutions.
