Veteran Hollywood actor James Handy, best known for his roles in Jumanji and Top Gun: Maverick, has died after being fatally stabbed at his home in Los Angeles. He was 81 years old.

The shocking incident occurred at Handy’s residence in Tarzana, a neighborhood in California’s San Fernando Valley, where police discovered the acclaimed actor suffering from multiple stab wounds. Authorities have since arrested a suspect identified as Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, in connection with the killing.

Actor Found Unconscious Outside Home

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to a report of an emergency after a chilling 911 call was placed on Wednesday morning.

The caller reportedly told emergency dispatchers: “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”

When officers arrived at the property, they found Handy unconscious in the front yard with stab wounds to his chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics but was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have not yet revealed a motive behind the attack, and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing. Authorities, however, believe the killing was an isolated incident and have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Suspect Arrested at Scene

Police identified the suspect as Michael Gledhill, 44, who reportedly lived at the residence with his mother, Handy’s longtime partner.

According to LAPD statements, Gledhill approached responding officers and informed them that he was the individual they were searching for. He was immediately taken into custody and later booked on suspicion of murder. His bail has been set at $2 million.

Law enforcement officials have not disclosed whether Gledhill has legal representation, and no official motive has been released.
