Kenya Power is gearing up for a bit of maintenance work that’s about to go down in seven different counties. Yup, you heard it right – Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, Makueni, Murang’a, Nyeri, and Kirinyaga are all on the list.

Now, don’t be alarmed, but there’s going to be a little blackout action happening. But it’s all part of the plan, I promise. This scheduled power outage is set to roll for about ten hours, starting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30th. Kenya Power is on it, and they’re aiming to make sure you’re not left in the dark for too long.

According to the good folks over at Kenya Power, this whole maintenance thing is just a routine check-up. You know, like when you take your car in for a tune-up to avoid any unexpected breakdowns? Well, Kenya Power is doing the same thing for their distribution lines and other power installations. They want to steer clear of any unplanned blackouts caused by glitches in the system. Smart move, right?

Let’s break it down a bit more. In Nairobi, neighborhoods like Kayole, Saika, Maili Saba, and a bunch more are going to experience the power pause. Even around Dagoretti and Karen, areas like Warai South Road and Nyumbani Children’s Home are on the list. Mombasa’s joining the party too, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with places like Mount Sinai and Bububu getting a little breather from electricity.

Kiambu County’s in on it too, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. That means Thindigua, Runda Palms, and others will be taking a short break from their usual power-packed lives. Makueni County? You’re not forgotten. Kilala Market, Mukuyuni Market, and more will be catching a few Zs in the power department.

Murang’a County residents, you’re part of the plan too. Nginda Girls School, Ihumbu Market, and a bunch of other spots will have a moment of power silence. Nyeri County’s getting a taste of this as well, with places like Ruiries and Lamuria joining the no-power club from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kirinyaga County, don’t think you’re escaping this. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Kagumo Market and Mutira Girls High School are on the list.

So, while it might feel like a bit of an inconvenience, remember that Kenya Power is doing this to keep things running smoothly in the long run. They’re putting in the effort to make sure you don’t face any unexpected outages down the line. Hang tight, keep those flashlights handy, and before you know it, the lights will be back on, and everything will be as bright as ever.
