Controversial preacher Apostle James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Ministry has once again sparked public outrage following the circulation of a video allegedly showing him making disturbing confessions during a church service.
The undated clip, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, shows the preacher claiming that he was once part of an eight-member gang that assaulted a woman years ago.
“We assaulted one woman while we were eight people. We did it,” Apostle Ng’ang’a is heard saying in the clip, addressing a visibly silent congregation.
The video has since gone viral, causing shock and anger among Kenyans, many of whom have demanded immediate investigation into the preacher’s remarks.
Passaris Calls for DCI Investigation
Among those who reacted strongly to the viral clip was Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, who urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the authenticity of the footage.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday morning, Passaris noted that while it is possible the video could be AI-generated or manipulated, authorities should not dismiss it without verification.
“In this era of AI-generated and manipulated videos, I don’t know if the clip is genuine or a deep fake, but one thing remains: it must be investigated,” Passaris wrote.
She further stated that if the video turns out to be authentic, then the preacher’s remarks amount to a criminal confession rather than a sermon.
“If that video is real, then it is not a sermon — it is a criminal confession. It should have been flagged instantly, and the pastor picked up for questioning by the authorities,” she added.
Passaris also challenged Pastor Ng’ang’a to surrender himself to police and name his alleged accomplices.
“I keep wondering where the woman is today. How has her life been since that ordeal? The DCI must act swiftly to verify the video, protect the victim, and uphold the rule of law,” the legislator stated.
Ng’ang’a’s History of Controversy
Pastor Ng’ang’a is no stranger to controversy. Over the years, he has become infamous for his unfiltered sermons and provocative remarks that often spark debate and condemnation.
In April 2025, the preacher came under heavy criticism after he was captured on video slapping a congregant during a Sunday service. He was also accused of making demeaning and verbal assaults against church members in multiple past incidents.
Despite frequent public outcry, Ng’ang’a has continued to attract large followings, with his sermons often going viral on social media — sometimes for the wrong reasons.
As of now, neither the DCI nor Neno Evangelism Ministry has officially commented on the viral video, but pressure is mounting for the authorities to intervene.
