Police have launched an urgent investigation into a shocking Eldoret human fingers parcel incident, where a man received three severed human fingers tied with six live bullets. The delivery, made on Friday, August 8, has stunned residents and raised serious security concerns in the town.

According to authorities, the recipient — whose identity has not been disclosed — was contacted by an unknown caller on Friday, August 8, claiming to have a parcel for him. The man provided his location, after which a motorcycle rider was dispatched to deliver the package.

The Delivery and Shocking Discovery

Police reports indicate that the man was at a local bar when the rider called to inform him of the delivery. Upon opening the envelope, he discovered three severed human fingers and live ammunition.

Officers who responded to the scene confirmed that the package contained a forefinger, a ring finger, and a little finger, all from the left hand. The grisly discovery also included four 7.62mm bullets and two 9mm bullets.

There was no written note or message inside the package.

Evidence Sent for Forensic Testing

The severed fingers were immediately taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for verification and fingerprint analysis. Police hope to use the prints to identify the victim and determine whether the person is still alive or has been killed.

The bullets were sent to the ballistic department for testing to establish whether they had been used in any criminal activity.

Police Hunt for Sender

Eldoret police have since questioned the motorcycle rider, who told investigators that he had been hired for a standard parcel delivery and was unaware of the package’s contents.

The sender, who initially called the recipient, has since switched off his phone, making it difficult for investigators to trace him. Police are now working to identify the sender and determine the motive behind the bizarre delivery.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of intimidation, a personal grudge, or a gang-related warning.

A String of Shocking Incidents

This case adds to a growing list of grisly and unsettling events in recent months.

In Kericho County, a man was beheaded, and his head placed in a sufuria (cooking pot) inside a home in the Kipkelion area. The rest of the body was discovered dumped in a culvert approximately one kilometer away from the residence.

The incident sparked violent protests at Koisagat Market on February 19, with residents accusing a local businessman of orchestrating the killing and fueling insecurity in the area.

Another Death Under Investigation

In a separate incident in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, police are investigating the sudden death of a passenger in a public service vehicle (matatu).

The bus crew noticed that the man, later identified as 63-year-old Abednego Musyimi Kinyili, was unresponsive while seated on the second row from the rear. They rushed him to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body is currently at the Ongata Rongai Sub-County Hospital morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police Call for Public Cooperation

Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious deliveries, unusual packages, or threatening messages to the authorities immediately.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information about the Eldoret incident — including the identity of the sender or the victim whose fingers were found — to come forward.

Growing Security Concerns

Security experts have warned that the unusual parcel delivery could signal a worrying trend of criminal groups using shock tactics to send threats. Such acts, they say, are often associated with gang rivalries, extortion attempts, or revenge-related crimes.

Local residents in Eldoret have expressed fear over the incident, with some calling for increased police patrols and surveillance in the area.

Next Steps in the Investigation

The police plan to:

  • Complete fingerprint analysis on the severed fingers to identify the victim.
  • Conduct ballistic testing to trace the origin of the bullets.
  • Review CCTV footage from around the delivery route.
  • Trace the phone number used by the sender before it was switched off.

The outcome of these investigations is expected to shed more light on the motive and lead to possible arrests.
