A Nairobi court has ordered that eight individuals suspected of involvement in a series of land fraud schemes remain in police custody for four more days to allow for the completion of investigations.
Magistrate Robinson Ondieki granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) the additional time, ruling that if the investigations are not finalized within the four days, each suspect will be eligible for release on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000. They will then be required to appear in court on the 8th of next month for mention of the case.
Among those arrested are two officials from the Ministry of Lands and an employee of the Government Press. They were apprehended in separate incidents during a coordinated multi-agency crackdown targeting land fraud syndicates.
The suspects include:
- Livingstone Ambai Munala
- Dan Adero Okoth – Assistant Security Officer, Ministry of Lands
- Nicholas Mukuna Ayela
- Paul Muigai Kimani
- Kennedy Mulatya
- Patrice Josaya Tumbo
- Emmanuel Matheka Mutuku – Casual labourer, Ministry of Lands
- Leonard Clifford Wafula – Printer II, Government Press
The court further directed that the suspects report to the DCI’s Land Fraud Investigation Department every Friday until investigations are complete. They have also been barred from interfering with the ongoing probe.
