After making sure that Maya was perfectly hidden under the bed I made my way to the door and opened up for Nick.

He was in a complete mess his red air force shoes had turned brown one would neither tell if the T shirt he was wearing was yellow, brown or white because it seemed to carry all the colors at once, he looked like a brick maker and pit digger at once had it not been the mess I was in I would have burst my lungs out with laughter, his cool kid looks were nowhere to be traced.

Nick was one of this kids around the hood that I would tag as lucky, he had his dad in the aviation and his mum was a lecturer in one of the campuses, he had rarely schooled past his high school and he was already managing his family’s chain of businesses and with him being the only son and the last born he had all the love and cash at his disposal.

He had however had maintained a low profile life and only a few if his close circle, including me really knew him.

He had in fact neglected the posh house rented to him by his parents and moved in to the hood as he sought for more “freedom”, most of his cash found its way to ladies and hoes in the streets and barely a dime of his would land in any other thing other than his fun branded activities.

He was my good friend anyway and here we were him, his girlfriend and I in the house, I felt as if my heart was going to break past the ribcage all thanks to my sins or I would rather say our sins (Maya &I)

I had suspended the bed sheets past the bed margins, I quickly handed Nick one of my T-shirts and trousers plus a basin, he knew where the tap was as he quickly dashed to the bathroom outside, if Maya had been dressed up She would have easily ran out but the poor lady was to scared, she was trembling when I looked at her down the bed, not so sure if it was out of the coldness of the floor or panic in her.

I took my other hoods and hurled it at her as I felt washed by self-pity. In a crack of a second Nick was through as he came back water dripping on him.

I knew hell might break lose, he was audible enough, I lacked words to reply.

I knew Maya was bubbling, and I wasn’t sure for how long she was going to keep it till she erupts.

“Waaahhh buda si utaumiza uyo mdem heart bana na vile anakuanga amekukufia, (Man you will hurt her heart and the way she dearly loves you)” I tried to be on Maya’s side so as to reduce her hurting.
